Can I title/register my car in VA before I move from MD?

My registration in MD is about to expire and rather than pay for another 2 years of registration here I was hoping I could just register my car in VA. I don't plan to move to VA for another 2 months. Can I switch over my title/registration at the DMV and put VA plates on my car in anticipation of moving?
