How do u draw facial hair?

i just did a similiar portrait of my idol Tim Burton ...i did mine in pen and ink and as you may know he has a gotee thats short and prickly. the way id portrayed teh facial hair on him was taking the inking pen and whisping it in a downward motin so fast and many times to get the depth of the hair , took a little whiel but i got it done with one pen and it looks great so my advice is downward motions that are fast and close together and kinda slightly curl at the one end of the hair
